Area 6 Show Jumping Qualifier 3rd July - Wellington

Although a bit last minute I managed to arrnage a show jump practise with Beth Mantell at Clappers Farm (many thanks to Linda Alexander for the use fo the facilities) on Friday 1st July. This was very beneficial and gave us all a well needed boost.
The course walk was early and a must as it was obvious the terrian would play a part in the amount of clears and the time.

The teams were as follows:
Tadley Black - Margaret Parke - Air Express, Alison Middleton - Primitive Rose, Jo Brazier - Chocolate Chip Muffin and Wayne Brazier - Flint.
Tadley Blue - Alison Middleton - Hell of a Buck, Becci Green - Cherokee Blizzard, Tina Tunnell - Chase Comet, Carol Doggett - Tequila Sunrise.
Tadley Blue qualified with a 3rd place, Tadley Black just missed out on qualification as they came 7th. Well done to all who took part. The stars of the day were the Braziers - both with double clears and espeically Flint, what a little gem!

Area 6 Dressage Qualifier June 19th - Hambleden

First of all apologies to anyone who feels they may have been forgotten for team selection and for the lack fo training clinics towards them but Kim and I had to move our horses at the end of May so time energy and brian power was lacking!
As no one was keen on making the 5 hour journey to Lincoln the club decided to save our money and just enter the London & South East Qualifier.
We entered 3 teams in all, one for the riders test consisting of Janet Zaremba - Domino (6th), Alison Middleton - Hell of a Buck (7th), Becci Green - Cherokee Blizzard (9th), and Carol Doggett - Tequila Sunrise (10th). Overall the team came 3rd and have qualified!
We also entered 2 dressage teams, both riding Prelim12. They consisted of Alison Middleton - Hell of a Buck (20th), Susan Thorn - Bugsy Malone (30th), Janet Zaremba - Domino (17th) and Becci Green - Cherokee Blizzard (1st) The team finished 7th and just missed out on qualifying. Well dont to Becci as there were 38 in the class.
The second team had an 11th hour substitution due to a lost passport so I stepped in with Comet. The team consisted of Helen McCluskey - Aberangel (29th), Jo Brazier - Chocolate Chip Muffin (30th), Carol Doggett - Tequila Sunrise (24th) and Tina Tunnell - Chase Comet (6th). The team finished 17th overall.
Thank you to all those that took part and watied till the prize giving, team results always seem to take so long. Poor Comet had to wait till Kim finished helping at 4.30pm (he always complains that dressage is pants!)

Team Report 2010

There were various sucesses for the Tadley Riding Club team this year both for individuals and teams. The first competition was in February, Show Jumping at a very cold Berkshire College of Agriculture, a London and South East Qualifier. The team of 4 managed to go through to the second round with no faults, however a particularly testing 2nd round with many of the jumps up to height left the team with a few time penalties and an 11th place which mean't we didnt qualify for the championships.

The next team competition didnt come along until June, we had 3 teams entered for both National and London and South East qualifiers, with two competitiors Becci Green on Spotty and Lucy Sandford on Kismet competing in 3 tests each, and Kim Vinall being called upon at the last minute on a horse he had sat on breifly the day before. All went well with the Riders Test Team of Amanda Taplin - Ella, Janet Zaremba - Domino, Becci Green - Spotty and Lucy Sandford on Kismet getting 1st place and qualifying for the London and South East Championships later on in the year. Particular congratulations go to Janet Zaremba and Amanda Taplin who were also placed individually 1st and 4th in their arenas. Sadly we just missed out on qualifying in the other classes.

Show Jumping at Wellington Riding followed in July. Tina Tunnell - Chase Comet, Carol Doggett - Tequila Sunrise, Lucy Sandford - Kismet and Becci Green - Spotty were entered in the London and South East Qualifier, first round of 2'6 followed by a 2nd round at 2'9. Carol and Becci both had double clears, Tina had 4 faults for an unlucky pole, and Lucy an unfortunate couple of poles left the team on 4 faults. thankfully only one team had clears for both round so we stood a good chance of qualifying. After much waiting it was finally announced - the team was placed 4th and had qualified for the London and South East Championships.

The long anticipated London and South East Championships at Ardingley were upon us. Due to illness Becci Green and Spotty had to pull out, since they were competing in both the Riders Test and Show jumping this meant much frantic searching for a team member or a horse for Becci to borrow. Thankfully Carol Doggett who can always be relied upon jumped in and agreed to compete in the Riders test, she was already competing in the Show jumping team so this meant the team only took 3 forward for that (Tina Tunnell - Chase Comet, Carol Doggett - Tequila Sunrise and Lucy Sandford and Headley Kismet). The show jumping team werent placed but all did very well including yet another fantastic double clear for Carol Doggett and Tequila Sunrise!
The riders test team (Lucy Sandford - Headley Kismet, Janet Zaremba - Domino, Amanda Taplin - Ella and Carol Doggett - Tequila Sunrise) did extremely well, the team were placed and a particular well done goes to Janet Zaremba and Domino who were placed 1st in their arena. Many thanks to Peter Greenaway and Kim Vinall who came along and helped, and ended up cross country jump judging, after all the moaning that they had what seemed to be a boring fence they had the most excitment with 3 people falling off!

Our thanks have to go to Tina Tunnell and Kim Vinall who spend countless hours organsing training, filling out paperwork and even competing on the teams themselves, we wouldn't have teams to represent our riding club if it wasn't for them, so Thank You for all your help this year!
