Competiton Venues

Hamstead Growers Equestrian

We hold most of our competitions at Hamstead Growers Equestrian which is just a few miles from Newbury.  The centre offers 3 exellent schools with superb surfaces.  The largest is 60 x 40 metres, the next is 40 x 30 metres and the smallest is 40 x 25 metres.  There is also excellent parking and a range of hot and cold snacks are available throughout the day.

The surfaces offer competitors the opportunity to compete on excellent quality surfaces which offer the same quality for warm up and competition arenas.  For our show jumping competitions, the main arena is used for all classes, the 40 x 30 arena offers clear round jumping and the 40 x 20 metre arena is used for the warm up.  All of the arenas are sited next to each other.  We feel the venue offers competitors top quality facilities on excellent surfaces unrivalled in the area.

Directions to Hamstead Growers:

Some directions and a map are included on the Hamstead Growers Website, but these are the directions we recommend to competitors:

The recommended route is to leave the A34 at the Wash Common/Highclere exit.  Follow the A343 towards Newbury.  At the top of the hill turn left at the double mini roundabouts.  Follow the road past the shops towards Hamstead Marshall for about 4 miles.  The road becomes narrow.  At the T junction at the end turn left and Hamstead Growers is the first gate on the left.

From Basingstoke, follow the A339 towards Newbury.  At the top of the hill by Newbury Retail Park, turn left at the roundabout towards Wash Common.  Go straight over at the next roundabout.  Go straight over at the double mini roundabouts.  Follow the road past the shops towards Hamstead Marshall for about 4 miles.  The road becomes narrow.  At the T junction at the end turn left and Hamstead Growers is the first gate on the left.

If following the A4 (which is not the recommended route as it is easy to get lost on the way!) turn left towards Hamstead Marshall into Milkhouse Lane, over the railway line and the canal.  Continue following the road round a left hand bend which is Park Lane.  Continue up Park Lane to the junction/crossroads.  Go straight over to Holtwood Rd.  After half a mile there is a bend to the left and shortly afterwards there is a drive on the right hand side leading to Hamstead Growers.

Clappers Farm, Silchester

We are also lucky to be able to hold a September show at Clappers Farm.  The dressage is held in their 40 x 20 arena with show jumping and warm up on level grass.  Parking is on grass fields and Linda Alexander offers a selection of rolls and snacks and hot and cold drinks.
